Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that the submission deadline for TRU VOICES will be extended until April 1, 2022. Presented with the generous support of RK Greene and the StoryLine Project, TRU VOICES is seeking complete plays for the annual series , which will be presented on The Sundays of July. Presentations can be virtual, with the option for the series to be performed live at one of Manhattan’s off-Broadway theaters. TRU will pay for a development reading of your new piece. Created to nurture producers as well as writers, TRU VOICES seeks producer-focused projects. Each reading is followed by a “Dollars and Sense” panel discussion with prominent New York producers, general managers and artistic directors, focusing on potential locations, marketing and budgeting for the work. TRU Literary Manager Cate Cammarata will once again oversee the administration of TRU Voices.

Producers are invited to submit new works they wish to develop. Theater companies are invited to submit new works they wish to produce in the series. Writers are welcome to submit and are strongly encouraged to use this as an opportunity to build a relationship with a potential producer, for our series and perhaps for the future.

TRU members can submit for free. All non-members must submit a $25 registration fee, which applies to our $95 annual membership. If selected for the series, at least one member of the production/writing team must be a paid member of TRU.

Cate Cammarata (TRU Literary Manager) is an Off-Broadway producer, director and playwright in New York City, dedicated to developing new plays and musicals. A recipient of the 2022 TRU Entrepreneur Award, she has been the Founder and Executive Producer of CreateTheater’s New Works Fest, Associate Artistic Director of Rhymes Over Beats Hip Hop Theater Collective and Literary Manager of Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) for ten years. . His Off-Broadway work includes The Assignment and My Father’s Daughter, with regional credit in My Life Is a Musical (Bay Street Theatre). Cate holds a BFA in Acting/Directing from Syracuse University and an MFA in Drama from SUNY Stony Brook, and is an Associate Professor of Theater Arts at CUNY Baruch College. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is the premier development network for theater professionals, a twenty-eight-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to help producers produce, emerging theater companies emerge healthily and all theater professionals to understand and navigate the world of the arts.
