University of Louisiana Monroe President Ron Berry and Dr Christine Berry kicked off inauguration and 90th anniversary week on Monday, thanking local public and nonprofit partners by “Bringing the Bayou to You” .

The Berries, joined by the Executive Council and student leaders, will deliver celebratory cakes to public and nonprofit partners. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., cakes will be served at Monroe Town Hall and West Monroe Town Hall from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, the ULM / United Way of Northeast Louisiana project “Take Flight Through Reading” debuts with the Berries and volunteers reading the original ULM book, “There is a bridge over the Bayou” to third-graders from the schools of Monroe City. On Wednesday, volunteers will bring “Fly Through Reading” to grade three classes in Ouachita Parish.

Each book contains a $ 500 scholarship, refundable when the student enters ULM in 2031, the institution’s 100th anniversary. Students must present their copy of the book to receive the scholarship.

The ULM will distribute over 2,000 copies to all third grade students in local partner schools.

Envision is a paid black tie event at the Bayou Pointe Event Center on Thursdays starting at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner and a 7 p.m. program. It ends with a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Tickets are on Eventbrite at tinyurl.com/ulmenvision2021; $ 75 per person, $ 50 for teachers and staff and $ 800 per table.

The public is invited to attend the fireworks display from the banks of the Bayou DeSiard, from around 9 p.m.

The investiture procession begins at 9:30 am Friday across the ULM bridge to the Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The investiture ceremony of the ninth president of the ULM begins at 10 a.m., and the public is invited to attend this historic event in the life of the university,

The nomination will be broadcast live at ulm.edu. Face masks must be worn inside the Colosseum.
