A shooting in Florida
Rapper Casanova – real name Caswell Senior – admitted in federal court that he shot a man in a gambling dispute in Florida in 2020. Senior, 35, disclosed the shooting on Wednesday while by pleading guilty to racketeering and drug trafficking before the United States. District Judge Philip M. Halpern.
US Attorney SDNY’s Twitter account posted on Wednesday to confirm the news:
According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release, Senior’s offenses stem from his leadership role in the Untouchable Gorilla Stone gang in New York, Florida and Westchester County. The Brooklyn native was one of 18 Gorilla Stone members indicted in 2020 in a sweeping racketeer-influenced and corrupt organizations case.
punishable by a maximum prison term of 60 years
Senior also admitted to participating in a robbery in New York in August 2018 and conspiring to traffic more than 100 kilograms of marijuana. He is the 13th member of the Bloods gang to plead guilty and faces a maximum prison sentence of 60 years.
A practical boss
According to the DOJ press release, a party in Florida attended by fellow Gorilla Stone members turned nasty when Senior turned his gun on a man after a gambling-related argument, causing him serious bodily injury. The rapper’s action prompted other revelers to unload multiple guns.
SDNY’s U.S. attorney Damian Williams said the “accomplished entertainer and performer” had both a supervisory and hands-on role in Gorilla Stone. “Senior was an asset […] participated in senseless gang violence, including a shooting in Miami and contributed to a Manhattan restaurant robbery,” Williams said.
Faced with rap, again
Senior has already spent eight years in prison, including time at Riker’s Island. However, he could be in line for much more on December 6, when he is due to be sentenced by Judge Halpern. The minimum prison sentence is five years for the two counts to which the rapper pleaded guilty.
the rapper abused a floor
Senior has made headlines for his gambling exploits in the past. While playing poker at Maryland’s MGM National Harbor in 2018, the rapper insulted a man on the ground, whom he accused of being racist. He also claimed to have lost $15,000 in poker and asked to be refunded, as YouTube footage showed at the time:
