Playhouse Theater Group, Inc. will launch the inaugural season of the Connecticut Shakespeare Festival at Auerfarm in Bloomfield, CT. It will run from July 7 to August 22, 2021. The theme for the inaugural season is “Shakespeare and Sondheim”. The Connecticut Shakespeare Festival will transport audiences to fantastic worlds of the unknown! After a year of isolation, escape from your life by connecting to the wonders and mysteries of Shakespeare, Sondheim and fairy tales.

Tickets are now on sale! The Connecticut Shakespeare Festival will feature two main stage productions (A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Into the Woods) and two theater productions for young audiences (Shakespeare 4 Kids: Dream Scheme and Snow White). The main stage productions will be preceded by the Green Show (animation before the show).

Free summer entertainment on the Green! Before watching A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Into the Woods, audiences are encouraged to prepare by immersing themselves in The Green Show with music, dancing, comedy, and Shakespeare scenes breaking down their “Shakesfear” (the fear and sometimes the total terror of not being able to understand the language and the characters of Shakespeare). The festival doors will open two hours before the main stage productions and the Green Show will begin one hour before the curtain. Relax on the grass while you are entertained by our very talented intern company and local guest performers.

Playhouse Theater Group, Inc. and Auerfarm began their collaboration in the summer of 2020 out of necessity. Auerfarm, nestled on 120 gorgeous acres in Bloomfield, CT, has become an exciting venue for playhouse theatrical events after COVID-19 forced the theater doors to close. As organizations got to know each other, a core value between them became evident: a desire to educate and engage the public and visitors to the world around them.
