Jason Gotay will present an autobiographical show at the Minetta Lane Theater
Audible Theater will also present the world premiere of good enemy on the Off-Broadway website.
Broadway favorite Jason Gotay (Bring it on, Gossip Girl) will present a new autobiographical show about the women who shaped his life at Off-Broadway’s Minetta Lane Theater via Audible Theater. The limited broadcast will begin on September 30 and run until October 2. Featuring musical theater songs and pop music tracks, the performance will be recorded live for future broadcast to global audiences as an audible original.
The world premiere of good enemy by Yilong Liu and starring Francis Jue, starting October 25 before the opening night on November 6. Chay Yew directs the play about Howard, a father who has closed the door on his past as a young man growing up in China, who surprises his college-aged daughter after traveling across the country and discovers the rift between them and what he has to do to Close it.
Production will continue until November 27, with additional casting to be announced in the coming weeks.
Yew’s creative team will include set designer Junghyun Georgia Lee, costume designer Mel Ng, lighting designer Reza Behjat, sound designer Mikhail Fiksel and production manager Merrick AB Williams. Combat direction and intimacy will be provided by Dave Anzuelo of UnkleDave’s Fight-House with technical supervision by Hudson Theatrical Associates and general direction by Andy Jones and Jonathan Whitton of Baseline Theatrical.
Audible’s Emerging Playwrights Fund also announced that its fourth cohort of playwrights will include Waleed Akhtar, Banna Desta, Tyler English-Beckwith, Oli Isaac and Tara Moses.
