After launching its resident company during the 2021-22 season and increasing the opportunities and involvement of its Junior Corps de Ballet student, the Ballet Theater Company (BTC) is delighted to welcome new advanced and returning students to audition for this elite group on August 20. , 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The company, which has taken pride in providing high-quality arts experiences in Greater Hartford since its inception in 1999, has grown steadily in recent years, providing opportunities for local professionals to thrive, and for students budding to learn the ropes of a professional rehearsal environment.

A rigorous program aimed at advanced dancers, BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet offers many performance opportunities alongside BTC’s resident professional company. This elite group is audition-only and accepted members attend the Junior Corps de Ballet class in addition to their training program at the School of Ballet Theater Company. Some members of the group are also invited to train every week alongside BTC’s professional dancers in company class.

During BTC’s 23rd season, dancers from BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet were selected to perform in Up Close: Fall, The Nutcracker, Aladdin, and BTC’s annual ballet party, gaining valuable experience as they learn the repertoire, rehearsing and performing alongside professional dancers. Additionally, some of the group’s dancers were invited to join BTC company dancers at various outtake performances in Greater Hartford.

BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet mission is to provide serious dancers with the opportunity to train at a high level, experience professional dance at a young age and, if interested, prepare to a future in dance. Members of the Junior Corps de Ballet learn the importance of discipline and goal setting, leadership skills, teamwork and professionalism in and out of the performing arts world.

An audition for interested dancers will take place on Saturday, August 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., following the company’s mandatory summer intensive: Ballet Bootcamp, which runs August 15-19 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. . are encouraged to read full information about online program opportunities and requirements here.
