Principal Ava Coleman announces that Abbott Elementary Season 2 is being ordered by ABC in a reveal that’s perfectly in line with the show’s mockumentary style.

Created by Quinta Brunson, who also directs the series, the comedy premiered in December 2021 on ABC. The story is told in the form of a mockumentary, centering on a group of teachers – and a self-obsessed principal – doing their job despite drastic underfunding and a lack of significant resources and facilities. . With Brunson, Abbott Elementary School also stars Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter and Chris Perfetti.

Since its premiere, the comedy has become a major hit for ABC. Abbott Elementary School made headlines as the network’s first sitcom to quadruple its ratings. After 35 days, the show’s premiere grew from 2.79 million viewers to over 7 million viewers. It also increased in the key 18-49 demographic, starting at a 0.6 rating and rising to 2.4. And since then, it has emerged that the series has earned ABC’s highest ratings for a comedy since the modern family final. Given these numbers, fans were anticipating and hoping Abbott Elementary School season 2.

Now ABC has confirmed Abbott Elementary School season 2 dramatically, like the show social media account posted an announcement perfectly in tune with the universe of the series. On Twitter, fan-favorite character Principal Ava Coleman (played by Janelle James) shared a letter explaining that the film crew following the titular school’s staff and students have agreed to return for the 2022- 2023. Abbott Elementary School was widely praised by critics, many of whom praised the comedy for portraying the reality facing students and educators in many public schools. In early episodes, Brunson and his writers are quick to show how the current education system works against less privileged children. At the same time, however, the series doesn’t forget to be funny. It’s already managed to make fans wonder if Janine de Brunson will end up with Gregory (Williams) – in the vein of other mockumentary couples like Jim and Pam de Office.


It wouldn’t have worked without it. Abbott Elementary School distribution, which Brunson said she should fight for rather than throwing out more recognizable names. These days, with a few Season 1 episodes to come, characters like Ava Coleman are quickly becoming iconic.
