PRACHIN BURI: Police raided a dormitory in Si Mahaphot district on Tuesday and arrested 70 people accused of operating gambling sites.

The Cybercrime Investigation Bureau and local police searched a dormitory in Moo 10 village in Tambon Tha Tum of this eastern province.

They arrested 70 employees and seized 1.3 million baht in cash, three luxury cars, 87 computers, 20 baht worth of gold ornaments, 50 bank deposit books, cell phones, a 9mm pistol and ammunition.

The detainees were charged with operating gambling websites in violation of the Gambling Act 1935. They were handed over to the Si Mahaphot police for prosecution.

Investigators said the gambling operation had around 200 million baht in circulation.

The dorm had been rented on December 15 last year and used for online gambling, with employees aged between 18 and 25, mostly from the South, working as website administrators.
